About the Building

The historic building that houses the Congregational Church of Belmont was built on its hilltop setting as the clubhouse for the Belle Monti Country Club in the early '20s.

So it's no surprise that the high ceilings, open beams, oak floors and verandas lend themselves to a variety of uses from weddings and private parties to business seminars and conferences to regular gatherings of community groups. The main floor is totally handicap-accessible with an elevator from the north parking lot, a ramp to the front door and an appropriate bathroom off the parlor.

The well-appointed dining room with its French doors opens to a veranda with a stunning view of the moon hanging over the Belmont Hills. A fully operational kitchen with a commercial range and oven as well as a warming oven creates a functional space for caterers with easy access to the dining room.

The unique, dark-beamed sanctuary with stained glass windows and French doors opening to another veranda features a beautifully restored Chickering concert grand piano and a world-class, 20-rank, pipe organ. Professional musicians use this warm and inviting space for recitals when it's not reserved for weddings.

Classrooms downstairs house the Carlmont Parents Nursery School and OT4Kids, a movement therapy studio, on weekdays but the large Fireplace Room with its own kitchen is available for rentals on weekends and evenings. It's a favorite for children's parties since the double doors open to a well-appointed playground and lawn big enough to erect a "bounce house."

We do our best to maintain our building as a "green" environment. We compost wet paper and food products and recycle plastic, paper and cans. We also encourage our renters to use our china and silverware and don't permit the use of Styrofoam or plastic utensils in the building. We have biodegradable single-use dinnerware available for purchase.

Best of all, if you're planning training sessions or business meetings, the entire building has wireless Internet access.
